The salon owner who exposed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for getting her hair done despite the coronavirus lockdown now hopes to squeeze more publicity from the incident. The businesswoman, Erica Kious, visited a salon in Los Angeles named Kitson that placed an image of Pelosi during her hair appointment. When Kious shared the security footage of Pelosi during her visit to the salon, the House Speaker was caught not wearing her mask and apparently flouting the rules that were put in place for everyone’s safety.

Kious is playing up the Pelosi incident because it has given her salon a chance at national attention. She met with Daily Mail reporters during a visit to the Kitson salon to show them the still image of Pelosi in the salon during the August incident. Above the picture, the salon owner placed the words, “Rules for thee not for me!” and was photographed smiling for the camera as she pointed at Pelosi, who helped get her so much attention.

The security footage was released to the media back on September 1, 2020. Kious confessed that she was so fed up at the time that she went through with the decision to share the footage and get her business some free publicity.

“I was on a plane to Tennessee when my phone alerted me to movement in the salon. I looked at it and was just like I’d had enough,” she told Daily Mail. She claimed that the protocols put in place because of the coronavirus pandemic were hurting business as the salon was supposed to stay closed to help slow the spread of the deadly virus.

Because Kious knew that Pelosi had booked a secret hair appointment, she decided to use the moment to expose Pelosi as a “hypocrite” and get some free media attention.

“What do I do?” she said. “It was a slap in the face that she went in, you know, that she feels that she can just go and get her stuff done while no one else can go in, and I can’t work. We’re supposed to look up to this woman, right? It’s just disturbing.”

Although Erika Kious knew she was sitting on valuable footage, she had no idea that she’d become a pariah in the beauty industry.

“I was not a political person before, but now I get it. I understand, ‘Give me liberty or give me death.’ I don’t want to live like this,” she said.

Although Kious’s actions seemed to be in direct support of President Trump’s anti-Pelosi agenda, the salon owner claims that even some of her liberal clients voiced their support of sharing the footage.

“San Francisco was going down before Covid came along. It just accelerated it,” she added. “And we’re in Nancy Pelosi’s district!”

Kious claims that her San Francisco contacts are fleeing the city because of the homelessness epidemic and rise in crime.

“I would say a good 90 percent of feedback has been good. Almost everyone either has a family member in the [beauty] industry or a friend so they can identify,” she said. “I had stylists who used to make $130,000 a year asking me for grocery money to eat. It’s just devastating.”
